Who is behind Waa
Waa is built by a small team in Bucharest. We make the digital invitations and the tools around them — replies, guest lists, menus, seating, check-in — and we use them at our own events before handing them to anyone else.
Why we built it
The first digital invitation we built was for our own wedding, because nothing on offer did what we needed. It was either a scanned card on a link, or a reply form that knew nothing about menus and nothing about tables. What was missing was not the design — it was everything after it: collecting the replies, turning them into a list, handing that list to the venue, and seating people without rebuilding the plan three times. Waa started there and has stayed there. A beautiful invitation is the way in, not the whole product.
What we actually build
A published event gets a page with its own link, which a guest opens from WhatsApp with no app and no account, and a panel where the organiser sees everything that happens next: who has replied and for how many, which menu they chose, what they cannot eat, which table they are on, and who has arrived on the day. Every design in the galleries is a page written from scratch — its own fonts, its own palette, its own opening — not a recoloured template. The wording arrives already written, ten options for every field, because the hardest part of an invitation is the first sentence.
How we work
We ship often and correct quickly. We do not have a three-year plan; we have a list of things that are not good enough yet, worked through in the order they get in our way and in the way of the organisers who write to us. When something turns out to be wrong — a product decision, a price, a paragraph — we change it and say so, rather than letting it fade. We do not sell anyone's data, we never send marketing messages to guests, and we do not hold an event hostage: you pay once, when you publish, and everything before that is free.
