About the design
The invitation is the front page of a gazette printed in a single copy on newsprint: a blackletter masthead, “Breaking” with the name and the age, the headline large in gold foil, the photo in a press halftone with its caption, and “When, Where, RSVP” in columns. Then come the news ticker, the official clock, the editorial with its gold initial, the evening's agenda, a photo gallery where a tap shows the colour edition, and a reply coupon. As it opens, the rolled paper loses its rubber band and unrolls over the page.

Milestone celebration · Coming of Age
Which events it suits
It is made for an eighteenth birthday, as a special edition of the celebrant's own gazette, with the celebrant as editor-in-chief for one night. For any other birthday the gazette changes its name and its issue number with the age, thirty or fifty, and the salmon or sepia palette gives it the air of an old paper kept in a drawer.
