About the design
On warm pressed paper in sepia ink and a gold pen, the title arcs over a then-and-now photo: the child and today's grown-up, divided by a line you drag. The name is handwritten in Allison, the date large in Bodoni Moda. As it opens, a two-tier cake with eighteen lit candles is blown out in one breath and "Happy birthday!" appears. Then a dial of sixty ticks, a journal page with a polaroid, the thread of the years in photos, a stamped guest card and the number candles "18" to blow out.
Coming of Age
Which events it suits
It is made for a coming of age only: eighteen candles, the years counted up to eighteen and "The last days of seventeen" on the countdown. One name or twins, childhood photos beside today's, ages read from the album's captions, and an answer that gives every guest a guest card stamped "on the list".
