Your guest opens the invitation, taps a button and tells you they are coming: how many of them, which menu, and a note for you if they feel like it. You count no messages — the good news is already in the list.
RSVP is French for “please reply”, and that is all it asks. The polite line at the bottom of a paper invitation becomes, in a digital one, a short form at the end of the page: coming or not, how many people, which menu, a dietary note if there is one, a message for you if they feel like it. No account, no app, not even a newer phone — it opens from the link they got on WhatsApp, for grandchildren and grandparents alike.
On Monday night the first “We'll be there” arrives. On Tuesday, three more. By Sunday, half the list. Every answer comes with the name, the head-count and the time it was sent, all in one place — not scattered across messages, phone calls and “I told your mother”. Instead of collecting answers, you read them. And whoever has not replied yet sits apart, so you know who to ask once more, kindly, in the last week.
The confirmation goes into the guest list by itself and stays there: the heads add up, the menus are counted per option, and whoever said yes is ready to be seated. You copy nothing from one place to another. And if somebody changes their mind, they change their answer at the same link and the numbers redo themselves without you.
On WhatsApp, by email or pasted into the family group. Everyone opens it when they have a moment — you ask nobody to install anything.
They tap “We'll be there”, say how many people and pick a menu. If they have a dietary note, they write it there too.
