About the design
The page is a sheet of watercolour paper. A ribbon hangs from its top edge with a little heart on a string under each dip, washes of pigment bleed in from both margins, and the child's name is written by hand in Allura, in a rose softer than the accent so the hearts stay the strongest colour on the page. The opening screen ends on a bunny holding two heart-shaped balloons — painted rather than drawn, with a turbulence filter granulating every edge. Below it, paper and hairlines: cream cards, the date bracketed by two thin rules, a heart between the sections, and a closing written in the same hand as the name. Cormorant Garamond for headings, DM Sans for text, with sage and bluebell as variants.
Which events it suits
The words are the child's own, in the first person — "I have two small hands", "I cannot wait to meet you" — the one thing the shared stock cannot say, because it speaks for the parents. At a christening the design writes its own half of the story too: the godparents, the church, "at my christening". At a small child's birthday the line about two small hands stays, along with everything that suits any celebration, and the rest starts from the predefined texts.
